Understanding Communities

This field trip is really three separate experiences, broken into the three types of communities. Teachers can decide which community they want to explore.
The exploration of a rural community includes an immersive farmhouse, barn, climbable windmill and so much more. Students will pick and organize crops, drive a combine in the field and wander through meadows buzzing with bees and butterflies.
In the fully realized suburban community where they can explore a neighborhood, check out all the services offered and get a better understanding of the distances between houses and businesses. They help a postal carrier deliver boxes to the correct address, help clean up and organize recycling and locate government services on a virtual map. The experience culminates by descending underground to board a subway.
The students explore the urban community, where there is so much to see and and interact with. Here, they have to identify all the different available forms of transportation that a city offers, find different businesses in different parts of the city and explore an urban apartment high up above the skyline.
Our VR guide will be with the students every step of the way to help, teach and guide the students through each experience.
**Teachers wanting to experience all three communities can book separate sessions for a significantly reduced price.
Interactive Challenges

The students will harvest and collect 9 different fruits and vegetables from the rural community. They will help a postal carrier to deliver packages to specific addresses and organize recycling in the suburban environment. The students will help to place the correct signs that match the types of transportation in the urban environment.
Player Interaction

There are several interactions within the modules including plants, animals and people. The students will learn from the interactions as they are guided through the different communities.
Content Connection

The students will observe many of the important parts of each of the three community types. They will understand physical distances between where people live, the types of structures in each type and the types of goods and services that are found in them.
Collaboration

The students can work together to explore, learn and complete the different tasks. Each student will have top complete their own task, but they can work together to solve the problems and meet the challenges.
