

Exploring Ancient Egypt




In this Ancient Cultures experience, students get the opportunity to see ancient Egyptian temples, artifacts and structures up close and in person. The experience begins in a desert city that houses a museum full of Egyptian artifacts, information and recreations for students explore and learn from. Learners can stand in actual tombs, look at artifacts up close and learn about the famous figures from the different Egyptian dynasties.
After exploring the museum, students are whisked away to a fully developed Egyptian temple modeled after the great temple in Luxor, Egypt. Learners will explore the temple and complete a puzzle, using artifacts they saw from the museum, to unlock the Egyptian tomb. Once students enter the tomb they will be faced with several challenges that will help reinforce important concepts from ancient Egyptian culture. The challenges include understanding the importance of the afterlife, mummification and canopic jars, the significance of hieroglyphics, discerning Egyptian facts from common false facts and identifying Egyptian artifacts from those of other cultures.
Interactive Challenges

This experiences contains several interactive challenges including the sorting of canopic jars, deciphering hieroglyphics, sorting facts from fiction, recognizing artifacts and identifying 7 famous Pharaohs.
Player Interaction

The students have several opportunities to interact with non-player characters during this experience. They include listening and working with several ancient Egyptian gods like Horus and Anubis.
Content Connection

The students will learn about seven of the most famous Pharaohs through information, discussion and physical artifacts. They will also learn about the inventions and contributions of the ancient Egyptians. The temple and tomb environments help the students to visualize the architectural achievements of the period.
Collaboration

This experience contains many challenges that may require students to work together to solve. Each student will have to solve the puzzle, but all students can work together in the VR environment to complete each challenge.
